Today was slightly cooler 14⁰C but still fairly warm. I saw: my first brimstone(female) of the year 5x small tortoishells 3x peacocks and 1 large white.
Great day today hottest so far about 15-18⁰C ( got sun burn down at the beach ) I saw large whites about 5 of them I also saw 3x orange tips, 7x small tortoishells 5x peacocks and 1 comma which was testing some nettles which to lay eggs on.
I saw my first orange tip(male)of the year today quickly flying around and not stopping for a rest. I aslo saw 4x peacocks 7x small tortoishell and a comma. I managed to get these two as they rested
I saw a lot of butterflies today they include ( lost count on most of them) (approx) 8-10 Peacocks, (approx) 5-6 small torts, 3 commas and my first white I could not tell if it was a large or a small because it flew quickley over a hedge but it deffinatily was a white.
Today was GREAT lovely weather no butterflies but I saw so GREAT birds and I mean great I saw 2 barn owls and my first swift or swallow( I forgot) and a greenfinch yay!!
Small tortoishells today and also saw my first urban butterfly it was a small tort or a peacock I could not tell. I cant wait to see my first orange tip.
I have been very worried the past few days because of the a sudden cold spell that is coming and the bad weather that includes: Rain, cloud, Fog/mist and even some snow.
Will this effect the butterflies? If not how will they adapt?
