A good number of species at Mottistone Down this afternoon but very small numbers of butterflies generally. We saw quite a few Grüner's orange tips and also a good number of inky skippers at the top of a hill. We just seemed to be in the right place at the right time. :D :D
Also, another quite rare sighting was this eastern greenish black tip below.

It seems a very poor year for Glanville fritillaries on the Isle of Wight with substantially fewer larval webs seen. However, 8 very fresh adults seen at Bonchurch yesterday.

Great to see the Queen of Spain fritillaries in Kent and the long-tailed blues too. Super photos by everyone.
I attach a photo of two Queen of Spain fritillaries seen in Bulgaria last July. I was pleased to get the topside and underside in one photo.

Three or possibly four clouded yellows seen by me today at Bonchurch near Ventnor IOW. Also a long - tailed blue reported recently at Whitwell .
