I still miss mine but I had to sell to get the 300 2.8VR lens, though a friend of mine bought a 300/2.8 VR but kept the ...

The first two are burnet moths of some sort - I have tried looking on this link to identify them: http://www.leps.it/indexjs.htm?SpeciesPages/ZygaeFilip.htm The second picture looks like Zygaena fausta. The third picture looks like a species of forester moth. Thanks for the info. I thought the same...

Fiery Clearwing Pryropteron chrysidiformis
Ok it's a moth but it's my first clearwing and I thought it was exquisite! Shot in France last week on a very cold and overcast day.

small tortoishell & red admiral
Went to Carsington Water (Derbyshire) today and it was very mild after a cold start. Saw my first to butterflies of the year - Small tortoishell and a really tatty red admiral, both on heather at the nearby Hopton Hall.

sorry for the delayed reply, not been back here for a while. No extension tubes. This was taken using the Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S lens which focusses down to 5ft without any tubes! Combine this with the 1.5x factor of the Nikon chip and you get a 450mm lens at 5ft - awesome for butterflies, moths and f...

Hi all
Taken in France in June 2006. Any ideas? There were heath frits around but is this one of those? I thought I had a European field guide but can't locate it.
