If you are going to be shooting macros then get a macro lens, zooms don't even come into the frame. Macro lenses give vastly superior image quality, even compared to a quality zoom. A friend has the Sigma 105mm, it is so noisy, plus the external focusing means the front of the lens moves in and out rather a lot, meaning having to move the camera to reframe the subject perhaps. Other than that it is fine.

I'm a regular at Chambers, going most weekends during the season. I saw my first Brown Hairstreak there a week ago after several years of looking for them. I'm not the only one with problems, as others have also searched for years. Late morning seems to be the best time, then they vanish for the day...

They are showing well at Little Scrubbs Meadow in Lincolnshire as of last week - possibly Tuesday. Also Dingy Skippers there. As with most other butterfly species in the woods there, unofficial releases I believe.

I also was in Spain recently and saw several of these Speckled Woods but only managed an underwing shot. Nice to know what they are, thanks.
