I didn't get a good look at the upperside...all I can say is it was violet/blue.

I have an admission to make...I made a fopar on the ID when I said #2 was a Scarce Swallowtail. It is, in fact, a Spanish Swallowtail, Iphiclides feamelii.

I think the flower is in focus, and the butterfly is slightly back from that. Hadyou leaned forward half an inch when the shutter went off, or increased the DoF it would have been a belter. HTH.

Do these wierdos really think yhey are get anything out of posting thier trash on a butterfly site? I'm fed up with it, and disgusted that they would post thier filth on a site that can be visited by children.

Too hot for butterflys?

Is it possible? In a 2 hour walk I only saw 2 Meadow Browns sticking like glue to the shade, 3 Geranium Bronzes and 2 Painted Ladys. Mind you, it was 36° C when I left and it felt like it was getting hotter! The only consolation was this shot...(and the fact I probably lost a few lbs :D) http://img....
