If you use a DSLR you might consider a lens with image stabilization. It enables you to hand hold exposures as short as 1/100 sec and you don't have to carry a tripod dave I agree...this was taken with a 400 Image Stabilizing lens at 1/50th of a second, plus 3 extention tubes, hand held. http://img...

Noar Hill

Went to Noar Hill in Hampshire today as I've seen it mentioned quite a bit here, and was glad I did. It seems all the DoBs have finished and that was a disappointment, but that was more than made up for when I spotted a Lesser Spotted Robin Turner and his wife, Pat. It was lovely to meet you both......

Can't say as I agree with the "allways use a tripod" sentiment. I never use a tripod, and think my results are acceptable. It seems that using one just means you miss more shots.
