It was nice to meet you both. We try not to let anyone to go away disappointed and Phil does seem to have the knack of spotting them hiding in the low branches. I think they are used to him and come to say hello ![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Hi Neil, Was good to meet you and Jane. You have certainly made the most of your trip with some lovely pics of our northern species. I have ordered the Skin So Soft as recommended not in time to keep the mozzies at bay today. I agree with you late afternoon at Glen Loy was midge heaven and I believe...
Re: June 2016
The Forecast for this week was very poor and we had pretty much agreed Black Hairstreak would not be seen until the weekend, if then. Yesterday wasn't too bad with mainly sun, a little windy at times and rain staring around 4pm. Today looked promising also so Phil, Imogen and I headed off to Monks W...
Re: June 2016
The weather in Cambs has been poor of late to say the least so Phil and I set off for sunny Scotland. First stop was Glen Etive where we found a small clearing in the forest and within only a few minutes we had Chequered Skippers and Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries in sight. Although well into the...

Since it's still very cold, and yes we had hail again today. Bottom of a hole ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
The Barnack stone was also used to build Sawtry Abbey, long gone. Did you ever see Grizzled Skipper there Jack? I had one years ago and one was seen last year but I don't know where to look

Re: Green Hairstreak - Favourite Photo of 2015
The photo doesn't really do it justice it was bright blue on the upper wing, Green/Blue Hairstreak, Barnack Hills & Holes, Cambs 4.5.15
It's not a trick of the light, it moved around an always had the blue showing, maybe wear caused the colour change,

This is my favourite. I was rather tardy, looking for Small Copper at the other end of the field, just managed to catch it before it flew off. I'm sure Willrow and PhiliB have better ones. Shipton Bellinger 12 Aug.
