Re: July 2013
Thank you for your comments on the photographs Vince, Bill and Neil. I hope the Emperor is still holding court when you return Bill. We shall keep you posted, meanwhile have a nice holiday.
Re: July 2013
I was dragged into Fermyn via the long route from the South by Phil, then I had to wait two and a half hours for the sun to appear, but when it did all that had gone before was soon forgotten. At one point we had 6 male Emperors within 20 yards of us and there was not another person to be seen. Purp...
Re: July 2013
I arrived at Monks Wood just before 10am, Phil had suggested I look out for Purple Hairstreak in the grasses along the rides so only a few minutes in I spotted a small dark butterfly flying in the grass and already had a lovely Purple Hairstreak, open wing, in my minds eye. It was not to be though. ...

Re: June 2013
We have been searching for over a week. This evening I visited the wood after work and found 3 Black Hairstreak flying around the Blackthorn. Phil saw another 2 on his way to meet me. My first Large Skipper of the year.

Re: Norfolk
My photo was taken at 9.58 It might be worth mentioning you do need a ticket for the fen if you aren't a RSPB member. The only place I have seen them here is over the railway crossing near the doctors garden, from there walk on to just past the hide. Good luck
Re: Norfolk
This was taken on 10th June last year in the field to the left of the garden as you look at it. The RSPB website reports sightings.

The Empire Strikes Back
After weeks of 'will they', 'won't they'; Phil & I saw 20+ Purple Emperors, doing what Purple Emperors like to do, at an undisclosed woodland in Northamptonshire
