Looks like a Purple Hairstreak to me. Thanks Pete, I've just checked the Purple Hairstreak pictures on your site and reading the description etc. I'd have to agree. I have a small oak wood right next to my house. I'm just more surprised that I've never noticed a Hairstreak here before. Cheers again...

Worn and battered Hairstreak

Can anyone help me with the ID of this very worn and battered Hairstreak I found today sat on my buddleia? I've never seen a Haistreak before and it was a surprise to find one in my garden.

Thanks,

Karl Johnson.

I've just been to visit three other phpBB sites I regularly use and all seems hunky dory at the moment. Touch wood!! I think clearing the cookies and saved passwords from ALL my phpBB sites cured the fault. I also have the same username AND password for these sites so perhaps that doesn't aid Firefo...

:D Getting closer now. I've just deleted ALL cookies for the phpBB forums I'm subscribed to and I'm finally logged in using Firefox. Phew! I hadn't thought of searching for known problems so thanks for the tip. At least we now know it's not us, or me, so to speak. I'm also using the latest version o...

Aha!!! I'm getting somewhere now. I'm back this time using Internet Explorer 6 and have successfully logged in with my username. It looks like my Firefox browser could be the issue, although I have no problems on other phpBB forums with Firefox. Are there any other Firefox users having log in proble...

Gallery - Broken Links?

Is it just me, or are the Gallery page links broken at the moment? I was able to view Chris Pickford's gallery via the update email I received. However when trying to view other galleries they appear dead. http://www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/galleries.php I've recently changed browsers to Mozilla Firefox...

The antennae do look good, so I'd go for Essex too. Although I've yet to see an Essex, another ID feature I believe, is that Small Skipper has a pale buff tip to the outer underwing as can be seen in my photo below. A picture of Small Skipper antennae can also be seen HERE Great photo of the Essex b...

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the new forum facility. Yet another great improvement to the site. I'll be a regular visitor here hoping to pick up tips and learn more from the more experienced contributors.

I'm relatively new to butterflying and come from Preston.

Regards,

Karl Johnson.
