National Trust selling butterfly catching nets

On two recent visits to national trust properties I was surprised to see that they were selling telescopic butterfly catching nets aimed at children. Shortly afterwards we saw a child with minimal adult supervision chasing various white butterflies with such a net. The chances of any butterfly that ...

Re: April 2018

Finally saw my first Butterfly of 2018! Today is almost the first day this year the temperature in North East Lancashire has reached double figures and now its 20 degrees! At a least it was something a little special. A male Brimstone flew through our garden which is 700 feet above sea level on the ...

Another Kefalonian Butterfly

Can anyone identify this butterfly. Apologies for the poor quality of the photograph but it was sat at the top of a tree and I've heavily cropped it. To give an idea of the size it was significantly bigger than a Southern White Admiral which was also in the same tree.

Re: Kefalonian Skippers

Thanks John.

I did wonder about Pigmy Skipper for the first one but the book I had with me said they were absent from Kefalonia! Mind you it also said Geranium Bronze weren't found there and they were very common!

I would appreciate it is someone could give me an identification for these three skippers seen on Kefalonia earlier this month. Is the first one is a Mediterranean Skipper?

Re: RFI Sand Point, Somerset

I notice on the Somerset and Bristol branch first sightings page Glanville Fritillary have been seen at Sand Point this year.

Is this another reintroduction or have they just been missed for 2 years?

Re: Butterflies of the West Midlands

Apparently the £13.95 offer doesn't include postage and packing of £4 so £17.95 that I paid is correct. Purchases after 01 April will cost £22.95 including postage and packing.
