Re: Butterflies of the West Midlands

I ordered mine in November and paid £17.95 which the Nature Bureau took from me at the time. Think I might stick to Amazon in future!

Re: Web4160

Re: High Brown Fritillary and Scotch Argus

At Arnside the path from the car park on the south side is good for Grayling. Fritillary can be found at the top of the Knott between the two areas of trees and also on the slope to the north side. There is a field full of ferns which is also a good spot which is off the approach Road. If scotch arg...

Re: High Brown Fritillary and Scotch Argus

As no one has commented on the photo yet, I will step in and confirm this is a 100% High Brown Fritillary :) Vince In that case there should be plenty about by the end of next week. I thought this was the earliest date I had for High Brown's at Arnside Knott but on checking found an earlier record ...

Re: High Brown Fritillary and Scotch Argus

I visited Arnside Knott on Friday (which is technically just in Cumbria!) Plenty of Dark Green and Small Pearl Bordered Fritillaries to be seen together with one each of Grayling and a very worn Northern Brown Argus. No definite sightings of High Brown although one possible which I caught in flight....

Re: Web4160

Continued to visit Sites in South Gloucestershire today. At Prestbury Hills although it was cold 11 degrees and only intermittently sunny we managed to find 2 Duke of Burgundies, and one each of Small Blue and Green Hairstreak. The only Butterfly which was more plentiful was Small Heath. In the afte...

Re: Web4160

Finally managed to spend a week out and about in the South West for the first time this year. So far have managed to visit Breakheart Quarry and Stinchcombe Hill in Gloucestershire and Walton Common, Sand Point and Dolebury Warren in Somerset. The most common butterflies seen across the 5 sites have...

I photographed this butterfly on Kefalonia in August.

I thought at the time that it was a Sage Skipper is that correct?
