I think the photographs are absolutely amazing. It took absolutely ages to choose my votes and then I couldn't be sure until I had gone through them all one more time. I do think that the voting structure could possibly be improved, and here is my modest suggestion: At the point that Pete has all th...

Sounds good - I am interested. Can we have a vague guess at the cost - say how much it cost last year?

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad I can get photos worth showing with my rather more limited kit... I'm really glad it wasn't a Chalkhill blue (though it would have been nice to see one) as I would have been embarrassed not to identify that. The black bands in the fringe are useful to identify Chalk...

Two odd blues and a small heath

Went for a walk along devils ditch today and saw eight species including a clouded yellow. Two of the common blues were aberrant forms, I think. Pete, Thanks for the information and links. They helped me to find and fix the problem really quickly - it was my firewall (Zone Alarm Pro) which had decided to block banner ads on your site. So I told it you were OK and all is well. What an incredible collection of high-grade images people are taki...

Pete, Thanks for the quick reply. I don't think it's a date issue - it seems quite random. For example, in 'identification', I can't see the first two posts from Sept 10th, but I can see the third one from Tricky on Sept 7th. I can't see my own brimstone photos (rats), nor the next four sets of imag...

Brimstones and a question

Hello all I've just joined ... I thought my butterfly photos were really special until I saw all the stuff here! Last Sunday (the 10th) I was at Wicken Fen and found a large group of apparently newly hatched Brimstones. Unlike the usual behaviour for this species (= always flying in my experience), ...
