Re: Lenses

"I thought my Peacock was pretty good"

It is pretty good, especially with a little Smart USM applied which really works wonders. It's always nice to get some colour such as Rag Wort and thistle.

Re: Lenses

"Also, is there any advantage to be gained from a 100mm macro over a 50mm macro apart from not having to get so close to the subject? Can one hold a camera with a 100mm macro lens without a pod and avoid ANY camera shake? I would be very grateful for any advice." A 50mm macro is ideal for ...

Re: Visitor Pressure on Sites

I certainly hope Noar Hill does not get trampled, having visited for the first time last week, and seen what a nice site it is. I was despairing of finding any sites as good as those near Luton. Not so long ago I was photographing dragonflies near a lake, taking care to walk only on paths, and alrea...

Re: Macro Lens - Again

"I would love to know where you can get this for anything less than £450."

I think it was on ebay, and it was from a UK seller a year or two ago. My colleague was worried it was stolen, so checked the serial number against a batch of stolen lenses, and it was kosher.

Re: small pearl bordered fritillary

I think that is a very good shot, and technically very competent.

Re: T&C and copyright

Hello Pete. Basically I want to know the copyright terms. Does the photographer retain the copyright, or does the forum take a share? Some forums take a share of the copyright and give themselves the right to reproduce or sell the images in any way they see fit, and keep any profits. I'm not keen on...

Re: Macro Lens - Again

If you are willing to get up before sunrise, or toddle out an hour before the sun sets, then a 100mm lens will be fine as the insects will be inactive. As the sun rises, sleepy butterflies spread their wings, to catch the early sun, and that is a good moment to get a photo. Later in the day you will...

Re: Where are all the butterflies? (and when will they recover!)

I am a not very knowledgeable amateur, but good locations near Luton were very poor last year compared to the preceding years. Blues were low in number and I saw no fritillaries. This year I am seeing lots of meadow browns, but I have recently moved to Surrey, and I do not know the area so cannot co...

T&C and copyright

Hello

First I would like to say that I've seen some very impressive photos on this site.

Anyway, I tried to locate the T&C and couldn't. Does anyone know the copyright terms for images submitted to this forum, such as to competitions? Thanks.
