Lenses
Can anyone help, please. I am going to upgrade from my compact to a DSLR (O, the siren voices!). I very much like being able to use the compact at arm's length, so am pretty well decided on a Sony A350 with its 'live view' function. The problem is - which lens? I only want this camera for photograph...

Re: Unknown Geometrid
Hi Chris and thanks for that.
I have just looked MB up in the caterpillar book and it doesn't really match my photo. Also, I think that mine was a bit too big - boasting again! Ah, well - back to the drawing board.

Re: Unknown Geometrid
I have a much bigger and better picture, but the file size is too big for the web site. Perhaps I could email it to you?

Unknown Geometrid
Does anyone have any idea what this may be? Apart from a caterpillar, that is! It was found, feeding on Elm in Oct -07. It had a deeply bifurcate head, which gave the 'face' a heart-shaped appearance. Any ideas?

Glanville Fritillary var.
Hi Guys, I thought y'all might be interested to see a photograph of an 'albino' Glanville Frit, which was taken at Compton Bay last year (now that I've cracked how to upload photos, finally!!). The colour is not a photographic fault as other normal examples were photographed at the same time. Has an...

Re: July 2008 Competition Entries
Thank you to everyone for file size advice; I'm very much a computer novice and have trouble with this stuff. Hope this photo makes it.

Re: July 2008 Competition Entries
Can this facility be changed so that it will accept bigger photographic files? I have been unable to post any photos due to mine all having a file size of more than 250 wotsits.

Re: Tips on what camera to get
My fourpenn'th for what it's worth. A really good compact - like Canon Ixus - with 8-10 mil pixels has the enormous advantage that you can hold it at arm's length and more easily approach most butterflies. It's also great if you are climbing up a mountain after epiphron or the like; you have a tiny ...

Large Copper
Hi everyone from a new member.
There was an apparent illegal release of LC in the Peak District last year - I saw some pix on the web. Does anyone know precisely where, or who was resposible? Any further activity this year? Any info would be appreciated.
