Re: Butterflies - A Very British Obsession

I enjoyed the program, I agree with those who thought the tattoo and artwork segments felt a bit "tacked-on".

I shall probably watch it again on iPlayer and just skip through the bits that didn't appeal so much.

Re: Painted Lady influx!!!

Only two seen today. BBC West had a little bit on their 7.55am news bulletin about the migration, accompanied by pictures of Large Blues. Good to see they've done their research!

Re: Painted Lady influx!!!

Jack - I'm in coastal Somerset (in a town that faces west onto the Bristol channel). I've just been into the town centre and they're pootling about every which-way. Re: Painted Lady influx!!!

Counted 15 in the last half hour flying over our yard at work - all entering from north-west corner and exiting at south-east corner - all that I saw took exactly the same route

Re: What do butterfly enthusiasts do during the winter months?

Nice M12 Martin, at last a personal plate that's applicable to the car it's on! We do tyres on a local M10 and when it's parked in our yard it attracts more attention from passers-by than any other sports/performance/classic that ever comes in (though I don't think the M10 is anywhere near as attrac...

Re: What do butterfly enthusiasts do during the winter months?

When it's too cold and rainy I'll be in a big shed tinkering with a traction engine Ooh, likey likey. My father recently dug out all his old cine film of when he and his friends used to tear(!) around the countryside on traction engines in the 70's, I had no idea that anything that moves so slowly ...

Re: Net Rage

Gruditch wrote that he is a: a short arse Ladies. You might be able to answer this. Are men of reduced stature (vertically challenged) proportionally challenged in other parts of their anatomy? Jack Jack - a long time ago I dated a chap who was 6'10" - he had very, very large feet but there se...

there's also a little tie-in story featuring Matthew on the BBC Hampshire pages; http://www.bbc.co.uk/hampshire/index.shtml

It was, quite possibly, one of the best days of my life (well, close behind the day I met my wonderful other half!). I can still smell the whiff of belachan past floating on the air...

Roger, darling - no offence taken. I am a learner, with a great big L plate slapped on my (borrowed) camera. I am interested in learning how to take better photographs, so all constructive criticism is duly noted (and sometimes even followed  ) Like I said when I posted the photo, I was intere...
