Brown Argus?

Hi all.
Could someone please confirm these as a Brown Argus for me please. I've never seen one with a blueish sheen before. Is this normal?
Many thanks,
Deano.

Re: April 2010 Sightings

Hello everyone Nice to see so many nice photos of courting butterflies. I came across several pairs yesterday, including this strange "match". Has anyone else seen this sort of thing before? Never seen this before, but this is excellent field work! Given other recent observations (and I h...

Re: April 2010 Sightings

Hi all

I saw my first Small White of the year, in our garden today. I think it was a male as it fluttered through, just giving me enough time to identify it. My first of this species last year was on 30 March.

Re: April 2010 Sightings

Hello everyone, I know I'm well behind most other members of this site, but I finally saw my first Peacock yesterday, in our garden. Last year's first for me was on 18 March, so this is a fair way behind. I am pleased to attach a pic of what turned out to be a really camera friendly butterfly, happi...

Re: March 2010 Sightings

Hello all,
I saw my first Brimstone of the year today, a male. My first of last year was on 21st February. The temperature when I saw today's beauty was about 11 degrees c, and the sunshine was lovely!
A most welcome sight, particularly after this drag of a winter.
Best regards,
Deano.

Re: March 2010 Sightings

Reading of these atalanta sightings, it just goes to show how Red Admirals have got hardier over the last few years doesn't it! Didn't expect any to survive this winter, but I'm so pleased that some have!
Best wishes to all,

Re: March 2010 Sightings

Hi all. I am thrilled to report that I saw my first butterfly of the year this afternoon, a Small Tortoiseshell in Long Melford, Suffolk. It fluttered past very weakly, so I'd guess that it hadn't woken up that long ago. I reckon that the temperature was only about 8 degrees celsius, so I was chuffe...
