Re: How many UK Butterflies members own a Sigma 150mm?
Hm... dunno what happened to my earlier post... The canon 100-400 + 1.4x gives a minimum (or max) aperture of F8 for autofocus purposes regardless of camera settings/conditions. It doesn't adjust settings for the photo (to F16 or whatever) until the shutter button is fully pressed. On 1 series bodie...

Re: Oh Help!
I'd say option 2 without hesitation. The lens options are way better than those of option 1. You say you're goiung to get the sigma 150 on top of these, so for a beginner option 2 + that easily covers your all needs for the forseeable future for a pretty reasonable price. Though the canon 100-400 is...

Re: How many UK Butterflies members own a Sigma 150mm?
I Have had the sigma 150 for about 3 years or so now (Got it not long after they were announced). Blinding lens even after dropping it off my monopod and breaking it clean in half. Took Sigma a while to get it fixed but it works just as new. As macro lenses go the AF is the best easily and I don't o...

Emperor Moth
It's a day flying moth, so half counts ;) Can anyone recommend some reliable locations for seeing these on the south coast (Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Dorset) this April/May I guess for the flight time? It's a species I've never seen but it's been a long ambition to see and photograph them. Any info w...

1 and 2 I'd say were African Monarchs. 3 I can't ID from the book I have here as it only covers SA butterflies and I guess the one you have here doesn't stray that far south. It does however have a common dotted border which I have seen myself in several countries and it doesn't look like that. Much...

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/johnbogle/BC/congo1.jpg The orange/black/white ones are called Angolan White Ladies The white ones I think are Two Dotted Borders (The book I have doesn't have great images of the whites with wings shut and it is only on South African Species) The turquoise/black one is c...

Hi Charles, Very iunteresting thread as I am considering going to Corfu myslef this year (probably May/June) and would welcome some advice on locations for the swallowtails and pashas especially. I visited there once before in about 2003 and stayed in Paleocastritsa. Mostly it was beach based with t...
