Re: Slugs

Hi Denise, I also have been plagued with slugs - (new house and we made the garden ourselves so there were none at the start - where do they all come from!!). I also go out at night by torchlight and hand pick them up. However there is a product called "Nemaslug" which uses nematodes to ki...

Re: To photoshop or not to photoshop ??

I spend hours in front of my PC tweaking my photos - it is true to say though that if the shot is no good in the first place then you probably have no chance of doing anything with it. So I now try to think about each shot I take (RAW) so that post processing is minimal. However I have Corel PSP X1 ...

Re: Code of Practice

I have to agree with everything that Dave Brown has said in his post concerning restriction of information. I strongly believe that we should all be responsible enough to regulate our own actions and also I would hope those of other people we may come into contact with - either on wildlife sites, th...

Re: Oh Help!

Hi Denise, Great choice (in my opinion!) - I have had the Canon 400D for a year now and just recently bought the 100-400 L lens which is fantastic. I still have difficulty getting sharp shots but that is down to me and not the camera / lens!! Hope you have a great time taking photos this year. Cheer...

Sorry Guy missed the post about surname! For the record my name is George Cox. Just a further thought - the whole conservation / government / pressure for building (caused I suspect mainly by the lack of control on immigration) issue is bigger than just butterflies & moths. What about plants, bi...

That's great Guy & Pete! I feel much better that we are doing something to bring this to more public attention. Anything we can do to create wider public awreness of the issues facing us at the moment has to be good.

Thanks

There isn't only Micheldevers in Hampshire - I am sure you all know that there are others planned - here in Derbyshire I have heard plans for two new towns. The government has apparently stated that it needs to build homes for 10 million people in the next 10-15 years (allegedley for new arrivals to...

Somebody told me once that the best way to take better pictures was to take more pictures - practise often enough and learn what works and probably as importantly learn what does not work! I used a Panazonic FZ7 for a year whch was brilliant but found that I didn't rely have to think about things li...
