Morning

The warmer weather has spread north and the first butterflies have been spotted in my garden in Cottingham, East Yorkshire.

Saturday - one Speckled Wood and one Comma
Sunday - one Holly Blue

Hi all

back working on the river trent yesterday (24th april) and spotted a large white at holme pierrepont gravel pits, nottingham and another at attenborough gravel pits, nottingham. Also spotted peacock basking in the sun between heavy storms at attenborough.

Bit grim up north still, not spotted anything in east yorkshire, but was working on the River Trent, adjacent to the M1, last thursday and spotted my first peacock of the year sunning itself on bed of nettles.

Hopefully the warmer weather will spread oop north soon.

december butterflies

Hi all

new poster - great site.

Thought I would let you know I spotted a small tortoiseshell flying erratically in my garden (cottingham, east yorkshire) on saturday 2nd december. after a couple of minutes it vanished - hope it found somewhere nice and warm to survive the winter...
