Longest living samia cynthia
It feels like we have the longest living samia cynthia caterpillars. The last from June until now. Only 2 are left from 10 of them, sadly, the other lot dried out and died. There are no signs of pupation coming.. Anything there that could be done to help them?

I got a cabbage looper with white butterfly caterpillars last week, I thought that one looked similar

Overwintering cinnabar moth
Hi can I ask if anybody kept cinnabar moth over winter? We have a few cocoons and I wonder what's best for them. The weather seems to be a bit chaotic in the past years, in terms of following changes in the temperature..

Thank you Dave. That's quite sad, but it explains actually why we have more empty chrysalis than released butterflies. I will put them in the garden, I don't like flies at all brrr

I don't think it is a sawfly. Unless it's some other kind of wasp, it's a regular caterpillar.

Hi, looking after peacock butterfly species I noticed some strange formations, cocoon lookalike. All caterpillars successfully pupated, only at the bottom of the cage the 'cocoons' remained. I attach a picture. The 'cocoons' remind me of cinnabar moth pupa, only they are smaller and not as ridged. I...
