Quite a few silver-washed fritillaries about at Chambers Farm Wood, Lincolnshire, today, fresh and well worn. But one stood out like a sore thumb.

Totally, I had been hoping for a red admiral.

Yesterday afternoon 31.12.2021, was so gorgeous I saw a green-veined white up on the Lincolnshire Wolds. It flew across the road in front of me as I was walking, into an apple tree full of rotten apples. Apparently it is the joint latest record for Lincolnshire. I had been dreaming a few hours earli...

Excellent; been talked about a few times in passing but no luck yet there with one.

Yet another CFW aberration, this time a Brown Hairstreak - ab.restricta-lineata. Found yesterday 24.8.20 by me, identified by Pete Smith last night.

Possibly quite a lot up there in the tree tops just teasing us.

Further to Pete's aberrant purple hairstreak I found another in Little Scrubbs Meadow on 30.7.20. Not as good as Pete's but lovely to see nonetheless.
