I always see them in multi 10s in Paloma Park , Benalmedena. I have even seen odd ones Xmas week there.

I often revisit this photo , Dave. It was taken in the Austrian Alps amongst hundreds of Scotch Argus. I have tried , on many occasions, to identify it differently. Perhaps you have solved my mystery.

On that subject , I met an enthusiast from Gran Canaria the week before David’s trip whilst at the Rambla. He said that he had seen Riparts and I attach his photo.

I was there 'till about 11:00 (just before the sun came out!!) and said a passing hello to a few guys with cameras. Maybe we should get UKB badges so we know we are fellow advocates of this site...

Interesting subject. As David knows , I was there the week before. This is a montensis I took a photo of at a nearby site. I didn’t get time to go up for morronensis. Too busy trying to find the ringlet

Guy , I wonder what the status of lavatherae is in the extreme south of Spain. I haven’t seen any records from trip reports that are available and I have not seen them around Malaga area either. Is is replaced by Baeticus completely.

A nice read Guy. Baeticus look a lot different from my trip in June. If it’s under the motorway in Benalmedina, my shots of Baeticus and tripolinus are of much fresher individuals. Baeticus always appear paler underneath to me with pale brown veins . Always good numbers of them at that spot and I of...

I managed to get away to Malaga. Provided you are organised , the travel is easy and I am happy to quarantine on return. Plenty of butterflies including this Southern marbled and Lulworth Skipper. Up to the Sierra Nevada today
