To follow that post , there is a ranger guided walk at 11am every morning through the flight season. I joined it last Thursday and saw several Chequered Skippers. As Pete states , absolutely no need to stray from the paths.

I also saw many Panoptes Blue for good comparison with the False Batons , Green striped White , and a nice Nettle tree Butterfly, never easy on the South coast .

Coincidentally , Pete , I had exactly the same idea but with a different target , Spanish Fritillary. I stayed in Malaga and drove 50 minutes for False Baton Blue and the Fritillary. I saved myself a two hour drive when I heard about these at Ivanhoe. I admired the butterflies , the scenery , and the weather whilst banishing the guilt of a petrol guzzling trip further afield.

I know what you mean Neil. But for me , not having to travel far to see species helped back to new sites is a good thing. Hutchinsons is a 40 minute drive for me and seeing Glanville’s close to home is a lovely treat
