Re: June 2023
Berti - NBA Grantown-on-Spey I'll have to reschedule my plans. It's only about a 40-minute drive to Grantown for me. I don't normally see NBA until the first week of July, so your sightings this early are a surprise. I did see Small PBF on 8th June. My 'hot spot' is close to the River Spey wher...

Visited Appin on the Scottish West Coast yesterday. Chequered skipper, SPBF, Marsh Fritillary and Small heath on the wing. Lovely photos there Bertl which I view with a tinge of jealousy. A nice array of lesser seen butterflies. I have yet to even see a SPBF which I am a bit ashamed of. Thanks Otep...

Around a dozen more PBF on the wing at Cambus o may yesterday. They only appeared once the sun came out. They were very active but managed a few shots as they stopped to nectar.
Re: May 2023
At last PBF have appeared at Cambus o may on deeside. Around half a dozen on the wing late today.
Re: May 2023
Visited cambus o may on deeside today. Still no PBF on the wing, I assume the cold spring up here in the North has delayed everything?
A few peacock butterfly and speckled wood butterfly on the wing.

Green Hairstreak Site near Forres, Scotland
I am spending this weekend in Forres.
Does anyone know of a good Green Hairstreak site where I have a great chance of photographing this fantastic little butterfly, spring weather permitting of course.
Cheers

Re: Chequered skipper
Owen
The best chequered skipper site near Fort William in my opinion is Glasdrum NNR. I have visited this site in the last 2 years and haven't been disappointed with the number of chequered skipper on the wing.

The canary red admiral is stunning David. When i was in menorca in 2016 i managed to photograph the cleopatra butterfly which i assume is a close cousin of the canary brimstone?
Looking forward to more photos from your adventure.
