Thanks for the comments folks. I have more to post, but not enough, I think, to put up a gallery. Hope it's ok to keep posting more? I'm hopeless at telling one Skipper from another, so maybe someone can tell me what these are? http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g29/55bloke/July15thKirkdale21.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g29/55bloke/July15thKirkdale20.jpg Some Gatekeeprs/Hedge Browns htt...

Some of my pics
Ok, there's several of my photos in various other threads on here, but seems like a good idea to gather them all together in this part of the Forum. I have vast numbers on 35mm film from the days before digital, but my scanner doesn't produce results worthy of this Forum, so all these were taken wit...

I lived in Leeds as a lad, and frequently played in Meanwood Perk, but never saw a Hairstreak  For many years, I lived in North Yorkshire, and I stumbled across a Marbled White collony just outside Malton. Don't know if it's a well known site, but I never saw anyone there but me!! Here's a few ...

This looks like a good place to post pics of mystery moths! I'm fascinated by the micro lepidoptera, there's just soooooooooooo many of the little blighters, and many of them are beautiful once you take the time to look close. Absolutely no idea what any of them are though. Spotted this beauty...

Hi. I've only discovered this fantastic website in the last month or so, and am still browsing the forums. I just found this thread, and thought I'd add a little contribution. I've been butterfly watching for something like 40 years, and until about 5 years ago, I'd never seen a Brimstone. Until a c...

Ok, suitably encouraged, I had a look through my pics and had 2 or 3 to choose from. To go for the best quality image, or the most unusual subject? Decided on the latter, so here is a fairly poor image of a pair of Small Heaths- courting flight, or territorial dispute? Either way, it's just about th...

In the end it all comes down the artists eye - framing the shot in that indefinable 'right' way - no amount of money can buy that!!! When it comes to photographing butterrfles, there never seems to be time to artistically frame the shot and carefully compose the image. It's usually more a case of, ...
I upgraded to a Canon Powershot, 8MP Good choice - Canon do lovely compacts as well as the DSLRs. Sometimes I wish I had just a smaller bridge or compact. Especially when I am miles from the van, thirsty, hungry and it has just started to rain. But.............there is something about DSLRs that is...
Hey - those are pretty good - especialy from such a small camera - Olympus C750? I would suggest pushing the ISO from the 50 it was on those pictures to 400 to enable a higher F No. and thus depth of field. Good stuff though, and thank you for sharing them. Roger That little Olmpus is a superb came...
