Re: Something Heath

Many thanks for your replies. Isn't it fascinating what you can learn from a slightly blurred picture of a largish Small Heath?
Bugboy, I believe we met at Rewell Wood, in May looking for Pearl's and Green HS together with Neil H.
Best wishes for the season, Patrick.

Something Heath

I wonder if anyone can help with the identification of this butterfly? It's a somewhat panicked and not quite focused shot of what I thought at the time was a strangely large Small Heath, hence the reason I wanted a photograph. It was taken on the 3rd June this year at Alt Muick Butterfly Reserve, S...

Re: July 2020

I don't post on this forum very often, but today (9th July) having visited Kithurst Meadow on the South Downs in somewhat poor conditions I was rather pleased to see around 5 newly emerged Chalkhill Blue and thought I would share a couple of pictures. Regards, Patrick. Chalkhill Blue.JPG Chalkhill B...

Corfu April 2019

The Eastern Orange Tip was spotted by the road to the south of Porta and the Nettle-tree Butterfly immediately to the north of Kalami Beach. Both new species to me and rather pleasing see. I hope others enjoy th...

Re: Corfu

Many thanks for your identification Guy. This is the first Large Tortoiseshell I have seen, despite having visited a site in West Sussex with no luck. So despite her appearance, really rather exciting.

Corfu

Hello, I wonder if anyone can identify this rather worn butterfly which crashed at my feet in NE Corfu on 19/4/19. This was at sea level, warm and within a stunning olive grove. The butterfly was quite lively but was unable to fly very far. I thought perhaps a Southern Comma or Large Tortoiseshell. ...

Mallorca Butterfly

Hello, I saw this butterfly whilst ascending Talaia d'Alcudia, Mallorca on the 25th October this year. I have been unable to identify it. Anyone have any idea? Thanks, Pat.
