They like somewhere warm to bask, perhaps if you have a couple of tins trays and place them round the garden. Shirley

Re: September 2008
It was one of the most sunny days we've had in North Wales for a long time, but unfortunatly there were very little sign
of butterflies, three Small Tortoiseshell's basking on a corrugated roof- my potting shed. This Small Copper was here and gone in a few seconds.- Sat Sep 13, 2008 4:37 pm

Re: September 2008
Great photos of the Comma, I don't care for those of spiders and close up of the darter. Give me a really nice photo of a butterfly any time. Also Jack explaining why the white butterfly appeared too white is always a problem now I know what I should do, maybe difficult to do with a compact camera. ...

Re: Researching decline in the small tortoiseshell - help needed
I don't mind collecting larvae for someone else but I don't like touching catapillars and if they got out of their box or nest and start crawling round the house ugh. Has any one got a photo of larvae and I'll have a look, surely in 8 acres I can find something. Small Tortoiseshell's are in short su...

Re: Buddleia
So, we're back on the Ragwort, tomorrow I'll call in the local vets and asked them how dangerous ragwort is to animals. Why when I sell my big bale hay to famers, do they ask 'is there any ragwort in this hay'? Its deadly to horses and cattle fresh or dried, its not meant to be a joke, its not somet...
