Re: Snow

It must be quite warm after the snow Guy, otherwise why should the butterfly come out :) it wouldn't last long here, its was more freezing to-night than last night and I opened an upstairs window and got a sunset and got into trouble- letting all the heat out :D

Re: Not Lepidoptera (Birds) - 2

Hi Shaun,

It is Niger seed, there's a sparrow that comes and upsets the Siskins abd the Goldfinches love it, the birds spend a lot of time fighting.

Re: Not Lepidoptera (Birds) - 2

Hi Shaun, Did the folks put bird seed out for that Hawfinch, I'm sure in this waether they'll be hungry. I found that most species around here are getting hungry, these Oyster Catchers were in the field by the house, there is a sort of blueish tint I'm not sure that if its the camera or they have bl...

Very red sun rise this morning and very cold, I took a photo of a distant farmhouse. I wonder if we'll have any snow.

Re: Not Lepidoptera (Birds) - 2

Glad you like the Siskins Shaun, we get them only in the winter but Chris Woods has them all the year round, he and his wife feeds them every day and the results are fantastic, their lounge window faces an Alder tree which they grew from seed 13 years ago and now it full of birds everyday, Goldfinch...

Re: new year

Happy New Year from myself to all. In my search for the Holly Blue Pupa I have found loads of snails and the Song Thrush's are very grateful for anything these days. Our pond is solid all the ducks are no longer :( and the birds are coming in fast and furious. Looking forward to Spring.

Re: Not Lepidoptera (Birds) - 2

A belated Christmas Robin and the male Siskin, I had to remove myself from the warm cosy fireside to get these photos and stand still for half an hour in an old dark ivy covered avairy (disused).

Re: December 2008 competition - Up close and personal

Well! Pete's advice was good with the last comp, get the size to 800x800, so I've done a bit better by crop a little at a time and then resize it to as big as it will go and then crop a little more and so on and so on. Put it on the comp page and if it blends in its ok, if it sticks out like a sore ...

Re: Has anyone got a Sony DSLR A200?

Eccles I have a close up lens. Last summer I ordered it of Amazon and waited 3 months in the end they said they couldn't get one, so I ordered another from someone I forgotton and it came at the end of September and it was certainly different.
