Dave, just seen your plea. I may therefore be a bit late but if you have not been I can enlighten you. I was there today and dozens of MFs flitting around, all over.

They kept well away from me and kept appearing now and again to see if the coast was clear. I was quite disappointed at the idea of it all. God idea t...

Re: September 2016

Coppers are doing well in the north east, 11 on one small site at Gateshead, lots of blue spot forms and two albinos. Four each seen flitting about at two other sites. More than ever seen before but there were none of the first brood seen.

An id of these pale green eggs, on clover at Totternhoe Quarry on 28th of May would be appreciated. I cannot find anything relevant in the books. I am wondering therefore whether they are from a moth.
Thank you

? Comma abberration

Hello all, I snapped this rather dark Comma this morning in north Durham. Is it any kind of known abberation?

Thank you

Re: Essex Skipper range expansion

I spotted these three yesterday at Teesside. Are they Essex Skippers? It was very windy and they were hiding deep down in the grass so these were the best photographs I could get at the time but I could not see any orange on the antennae.

Thank you
