Very funny Guy!
We were amazed to see it, we were in the middle of the town and it was about seven degrees. Unfortunatly we didn't have any camera equipment with us, so no images to go with the sighting.
The earliest sighting for Red Admirals - for the Hampshire area this year was the 13th January.

February Butterfly sightings
Saw my first butterfly of the year today at Bognor Regis, a Red Admiral with a slight nic out of it's wing.
Gary told me off as I was supposed to be waving him back into a parking space, but when he looked in to his mirror, I was frantically pointing to the gate post which the Red Admiral was on!

Re: Canon 5D Mk II
Sorry my feathered pals are not going anywhere :) Shame seeing as it's Valentines day and all tomorrow, I guess I shall be getting my customary zero cards on the door mat tommorrow! :( I know what you mean about cats leaving calling cards though - I own a moggy and i've always said that there is not...

Hi Paul,
I just read this out to Gary, as he has his head stuck in a book - he said yes this lens will fit.

Re: Not Lepidoptera (Birds) - 2
Great Little Grebe Shaun, I find them a bit sneaky, going under water for ages, and always seem to pop up out of range - well they do for me any way! Lisa, that's a very nice chaffinch shot so if you've 'cropped it a mile' that 300mm lens of yours is first class Ok so it wasn't cropped in that far! ...

Re: Not Lepidoptera (Birds) - 2
In truth I wouldn't have know if it was a Marsh Or a Willow Tit, but there was a guy next to us who seemed to know his stuff, so I took his word for it! and I love the Owls Eccs, you must have some patience, we get a fair amount of Owls round our way, but have never been in the right place at the ri...

Re: Not Lepidoptera (Birds) - 2
There really are some superb shots in this thread, I’m a useless birder, and that probably reflects in my bird photography! I got freezing cold getting these this morning, but the Marsh Tit made it all worth while. I was also fortunate enough to see a male Hen Harrier. 2427-nut hatch--.jpg 2420-mars...

Hi Lyn If your interested, I have a Sony DCR-SR32E HANDYCAM HDD (Hard Disk Drive) 30GB, for sale, going cheap!! £150.00 only been out the box once - just don’t get a chance to use it, as it’s difficult trying to film and photograph at the same time. Here is a link on Amazon for more details about it...

Congrats from me too, there were some awesome entries, and it was very difficult to choose between them.
I also thought the entry Nick B put in was just brilliant.

Re: Not Lepidoptera (Birds)
We stopped by a river today, and there were lots of Black Headed Gulls, and a couple of Swans. I thought it would be a good opportunity, to take a couple of pictures, but the chances of getting my camera out the boot of the car with out them all flying off were pretty slim. But as I grabbed my camer...

I know this was covered at the photography day, but there was some gadget I needed, but I can't remember the name of it, or how much it is, and how hard it is to do!! Everything I print out, comes out much darker than what I see on the screen, but mostly the blues are affected - they come out pinky,...
