Re: October 2009 Sightings

Thanks Gary I forgot to mention. I took when we were down at Bucklers Hard this morning.
I guess we have to take your word for it, about the Speckled Wood! but a stunning Autumnal pic all the same :)

Nice to see you at the BC Members day!

Re: October 2009 Sightings

Warm & sunny here today, hard to believe it's
the 31st October.

Saw 2 Red Admirals and the ivy it was on was swarming with bees.
Also 1 Painted Lady.

Re: New UKB Team Member

I've obviously not been paying attention, as I thought this had already been done, as I'd seen your name in 'green' for a few weeks now.
Congrats any way, and nice write-up too. :)

Re: Off topic...Guess the mushroom.

I like Photographing Fungi, but I normally pester Deer Stalker if I need an ID :)

I only have two books on them -

One is Just a Small Collins Gem Book
and the other is Fungi by Shelley Evans and Geoffrey Kirbby.

Are you sure it's not plastic!

Re: July 2009 votes

Many thanks to those who voted for my shot, and well done to Ian and Pete. John got my first vote, with his faultless Alpine Heath - I'm begining to wonder if you have ever taken a duff shot. Jerry with his 3d Comma. And for getting every single butterfly in focus, Ian Pratt with his roosting Chalkh...

Re: June 2009 votes

Well done Malcolm and Gary. :) Plus a huge thanks to those who voted for my Skipper, another superb lot of entries, there is some serious talent out there. My top three ColinC (Comma) My first vote - a great composition, great background and definitely 'wall worthy' deserved more than 4 votes I reck...

Re: Are these butterflies still around?

ROFL  Gary doesn't do sick! The nearest he gets, is strategically placing pieces of kitchen towel, on the offending vomit! I'm not sure if it's a hint for me to clean it up, or a warning for himself, where not to stand. Just for the record, It only reached two Banana's, and they went in the bin.

Re: July 2009 Sightings

My self, Gary, Roger, Pete, Denise, Eccles and Xmilehigh, met up at Bentley Wood, looking for Purple Emperors. We also bumped into Felix (Good to meet you Felix) and Dave Lowe. I'm sure everyone appreciated Gary taking us on a six mile hike around Bentley Wood!! Species we saw thoughout the ...

Nice images Steve. I found some more of these critters at Bentley yesterday,
and saw a Newly immerged Painted Lady today, which Gary has already stuck up in the sightings page.

Re: May 2009 votes

Another great comp, done and dusted, so congrats to the top three - and Matt gets this months bragging rights for producing a superb Green-veined White. :) My single vote went to the awesome Dingy Skipper of NickB. Gwenhwyfar would have got one of my votes for the PBF she removed! Lisa manages to pr...

Re: Painted Lady influx!!!

I wondered how far you actually walked in two hours, I'm picturing you with your head stuck in every thistle and nettle you come across! Sounds very much like me when I go out! :) I found 3 Peacock Larval webs as well yesterday and a newley immerged Scarlet Tiger Moth, still trying to dry out. Still...
