I have the opportunity to spend a few days on Majorca from late next week (23rd Feb) - any suggestions for places where I might see my first butterflies of 2019 would be most welcome ?
thanks - SiFenn

Tuscany; Butterfly sites near Sienna ??
Happy New Year everyone Sitting in the gathering gloom of a rainy Stockport evening and thinking ahead to a hopefully warm, sunny week in early June in the hills of Tuscany, a place called Volterra near Sienna. If anyone can suggest any good butterfly sites in that general area of Italy I'd be very ...

A few more Ghanaian skippers
Work commitments distracted me from ID'ing last few unknowns from a trip to Ghana back in July. I have trawled through wiki list of Ghana butterflies and searched available images on websites but would welcome any help with the following skippers 1. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4377/36740968555_14...

Re: Ghanaian Skippers
Thanks Guy - I take it you may have Larsen's guide - does it have illustrations or photos ? This Sarangesa spp. was one of the first butterflies I saw at Mole - I provisionally ID'd it as S laelius https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4364/37056387466_1a38e3fb79.jpg The other browner specimen (above) was ...

So here goes with some unidentified Ghanaian skippers seen while wildlife watching in Mole National park. Welcome your thoughts. 1. An olive green skipper seen...

Ghanaian nymphalidae IDs
I had the opportunity to visit Ghana in July - still the rainy season and not peak for butterflies, but still had a very enjoyable time seeing well over a hundred species during my travels. I'd clocked up a dozen or more in central Accra within a day of arriving, then went north game watching in Mol...

Too late for Adonis Blue ?
I'll be en route from Stockport to Bristol and passing Glos/Wilts area on Sat 20th and wondering if I'm too late for a glimpse of Adonis Blue this year ? I was considering checking Rodborough/Stroud, Daneway Banks in Glos or West Yatton Down in Wilts. If anyone has any info to guide me I'd be gratef...

Re: IDs for Alpine Blues, Yellows and Whites
Many thanks for the replies - so if I've understood correctly, the concensus is that I saw 3 x Mountain and 1 x Berger ?
The reality of the moment was trying to capture any sort of image after a mad dash across a hillside, for later reflection, as they really were not waiting around !

IDs for Alpine Blues, Yellows and Whites
Grateful to those who've helped with ID of some Ringlets and Graylings from Alpine/Auvergne holiday in early July, which I posted a couple of days ago; now I've rounded up some Blues, Yellows and Whites which I've pored over, but would again welcome confirmation or correction. And thanks to Roger Gi...

Ringlets and Graylings;Haute Savoie and Auvergne
I've been going through images from a recent holiday to Haute Savoie and the Auvergne in early July, and planning to post a report, but it's my first venture into Europe, and would welcome the thoughts of the collective to help confirm some IDs - first up I'm posting Browns; ringlets and graylings, ...

Re: Mountain ringlet in cumbria
I found my first MRs at Irton Fell a couple of summers ago. Parked by Irton Pike and then followed path in a NE direction towards Whin Rigg; started to see them around the 450mtr contour. I found that I had to try to track them in the sun and watch where they came down as a cloud came over to have a...
