Caterpillars for Identification Please. Thank You ..

Super-sorry to bother but whilst on Dartford Heath (NW Kent) yesterday we came across lots of these characters.

We wonder if they might be Large White Butterfly Caterpillars please?

Thank You .....

Re: A large White Butterfly please?

Dave: Thanks. To be honest I have troubles with the Large White Butterflies which to me at least, generally seem similar in size to the Small White arrangements.
Thanks again ~ Mike ...

A Large White Butterfly please?

Sorry to bother but I photographed this character earlier today.

Seeing the bold markings I wonder if it might be a Large White as opposed to Small White Butterfly please?

A million thanks in adavnce ~ Mike ...

Re: Pauline

Dear Pauline: Whoooops. Do we have a misunderstanding? I don't think so but just in case I certainly wasn't questioning your judgement. Merely noting that I often have trouble distinguishing between Large and Small White Butterflies! I would be mortified that you should think that I was in any way d...

'The quiet lanes, meadows and copses around Five Oaks are now bursting with Cuckooflower, Bluebell, Primrose, Celandine and Wood Anemone ...' Lucky you; I really like Cuckooflowers but haven't seen one yet; the local Woods are full of the other plants though. Super pictures. And Wow; how lovely to s...

'A shot of a Large White pupa ...' As someone who often has anxieties when seeing a Large White Butterfly viz. is it a Large or Small White?, I'm in awe!

Re: Mike Robinson

We are currently enjoying something of a love affair with Green-Veined White Butterflies although since we are rather fickle, it may not be long before we move on to something else! With yesterday being warmer than we had either expected or hoped for, we again trotted down to the fairly sheltered Pu...

Friday and Saturday were pretty much Butterfly Free Days around here; Rainy on Friday and Chilly yesterday. Sunny today but I'm thinking it may not be very Warm; but nothing ventured, nothing gained, I think!

Re: Mike Robinson

If I have learned anything about Butterflies during the short time I have been looking for them, chasing after them &c., I think it is that there is no such thing as an 'Ugly Duckling' in the Butterfly World. I was recently fortunate enough to come across a couple of Orange-Tip Butterflies; they...

Re: Mike Robinson

We wondered if we had tempted fate by hoping to see some Orange-Tip Butterflies. Thankfully not. With the Sun starting to shine we trotted down to the fairly sheltered Public Footpath in the Belvedere area (close to the Crossness Nature Reserve) where we have seen quite a few Butterflies already thi...

Dear Wurzel and Goldie M: Thanks for noticing the pictures &c. Hopefully the Weather will improve and we get some more Sun (in short supply recently) so we can all see lots of Butterflies &c. Including some Orange-Tips!

Whilst the Gulls in the Lossiemouth picture all look to be alone I find myself fascinated by the groups of Wigeons! What are the ties that bind? I do like to see them; preferring I think the colouring of the fenales to that of the males. We have Wintering Wigeoons locally on the Thames/Marshes. I thi...

A 'one cardigan day' with intermittant Sunshine and some Wind. A day of three parts; we started out beside the Upper Bedon Stream (previously visited a few days earlier). Once again, our luck was in; seeeing Comma , Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell Butterflies viz. commaupperbedonstraem5april2016.jpg...
