Re: Can anyone identify please

Thank you, that was my first thought too. It just looks so different from a healthy one that I started to wonder.

Can anyone identify please

Can anyone identify this please? Its wings were quite badly damaged as we had just rescued it from a spider's web. Thanks.

Re: Differences between males and females?

Really interesting information and great photos.

So am I right in assuming that the top one here is male and the bottom one female, because of the different body shape?

Hello, I'm new here so I just thought I'd say a quick hi. It's looks a great site. I really got into photographing butterflies last summer. Here's a little collage of some which were all spotted in my garden last year.

Re: April 2014

Brilliant photos all of you. Nice to see some we don't get at all round here. Also brilliant photos of the Orange tip Nomad. Obviously they do land then, just not in our garden, ever!!

Thanks for the welcome Mike.

Re: Small Tortoiseshell - Favourite Photo of 2013

What fabulous photographs everyone. My very favourite resident butterfly, we were lucky to have numerous visitors to our garden here in Wales last year. None spotted yet so far this year though.

Re: April 2014

So far all I have seen this month are Peacock, Orange Tip and Speckled Wood. All in my garden here in Wales.

A couple of Speckled Woods:

Re: April 2014

Fabulous photographs everyone, and such an amazing array of species, so many more than we have round here. I particularly love the Orange Tip photograph. Do you find they land much? I have never had one land long enough to photograph, seems an impossible task!
