Re: August 2024

Sometimes I regret not taking up a kind offer of a lift back from archaeology, but other times I'm very glad I walked. I'm hoping this slightly worse for wear gorganus individual is a migrant and not yet another escapee from the nearby Middleton Common Farm butterfly house ! Great find Zigzag Congr...

Chantry

I went to Chantry this morning hoping just a little too late for roosting time. Sadly it was very blustery which was not good for spotting or photographing butterflies. They were being carried by the breeze far and fast and most were staying low in the undergrowth when they landed. I saw Meadow Brow...

Re: Katrina

Thanks Wurzel, it was a lucky surprise.
Thanks Trevor I put it up rather than found it but I suppose I did manage to track it. After I found it I heard second hand that 3 or 4 had been seen the day before.
Thanks zigzag, it was unusually approachable.

Re: Katrina

Thanks Dave, it was good to see. I was hoping it would nectar on the yellow flowers but it just headed for the undergrowth and stayed there.

Steyning

I went to Steyning for a few hours arriving around 11am. It was a bit breezy. There are swathes of yellow flowers not sure if they are the same as at Shipton. Sadly I didn't find any brostreaks but I did see a Clouded Yellow, and 3 or 4 Walls, 2 Commas, a Peacock, a Red Admiral , Speckled Woods. Mea...
