Re the SPBF I have just reread Neil Hulme’s post from last year which said they become inactive for prolonged periods in hot weather so possible they are just hiding in the shade I suppose.

Iping and Stedham Common
I took a trip there today. The road at Midhurst is closed so had to stop and work out another way there. I didn't find any SSBs until well after 11. Eventually found 8 males and one female (couldn't get a photo of the female too far away) I found some caterpillars - does anyone know what they are? T...

This morning I went for a haircut. I stopped at a public toilet on the way and was surprised to find multiple moths including a Cinnabar, Alder moth and Ash bud. I went to Mill Hill this evening, Hoping for a nice basking Adonis Blue. It was not to be but I did see my first large skipper of the year
I saw some Adonis but they weren't in the posing mood. Also seen were some whites, Brimstones one Meadow Brown and plenty of Small Heath.
