Yesterday I went to Mill Hill and saw Small Tortoiseshells, Peacocks and a single Brimstone but no sign of the Grizzled Skipper. I also saw the back of a grass snake disappearing into the undergrowth. I found a brown moth which someone kindly identified for me on ispot as a Straw-barred Pearl (pyrau...

Today I went to the work party at Heyshott. It was another lovely day. On the way up I passed a bank of primroses and, although I had a lot to do this afternoon, I managed to stop for 5 minutes on the way down. I found one brimstone, 2 tortoiseshells and a peacock.

Thanks for your positive comments. I think I was very lucky to get the shot on a dubious weather day.CFB wrote:Hello Katrina,
That's a lovely photo. I particularly like the size and brightness of the bigger orange spot compared to the other photos above. Fantastic!!!

Re: Long-tailed Blue - Favourite Photo of 2013
This photo is particularly treasured by me as we had spent the whole of the previous day wandering round Kingsdown Leas with no success. My sister spotted this one on the way back from the tearoom on 29th September.
