Thankyou for your reply, I think maybe they are empty cases I have tried to attach photo showing one group at front right and one further back at left, not sure if anything will be clear enough so can always take another pic tomo.

Peacock caterpillar question
I recently noticed a large number of black caterpillars on a big patch of nettles behind my garden. They were large and have all gone now, hopefully into little cocoons. There are several groups of baby caterpillars under tent webbing within the nettles, they appear rather dead and a bit shrivelled....
