Re: Small Copper Aberration??

Hi Dave,
Yes it was brand new, found on a local patch, which I regularly visit and it was the first Small Copper I have seen in England this year.
I think you are correct with ab.extensa, which I have now seen on line, thanks a lot. :D

Re: SPAIN EARLY 2017.

Cheers Chris, I was thinking about coming to France later in the year, but our second son and his wife are expecting their first child(our 4th grandchild) in September, so our plans maybe on hold. I was going to ask you for a little advice on what could be seen in the Var & south of France later...

Re: SPAIN EARLY 2017.

Sunday 9th April 2017, sunny, very warm 24c. We left ALCOSSEBRE for ZARAGOZA today, on our way to BILBAO and home for Easter. We took the shorter scenic route via MORELLA, a medieval fortress town, it rises from the plain around a small hill crowned by a tall, rocky spur and a virtually impregnable ...

Re: SPAIN EARLY 2017.

That's a beautiful Burnet moth, Russ. I'm sure I've never seen it before because if I had I would have taken a break from butterflies for a while. Cheers David, yes it was nice to see a colourful Burnet among the butterflies, it was well worth the 45 degree climb up the dusty and slippery slope of ...

Re: SPAIN EARLY 2017.

Well spotted M, I see the white collar now, this Burnet isn't in BC, UKB or UKMoths.
I thought you were having a laugh with the name "badasse"

Re: SPAIN EARLY 2017.

Wednesday 5th April, warm sunny day, 21c. My last trip to PN Desert De Les Palmes before leaving for home this weekend. I went to the usual car park area but after a full circuit of the monasteries(old & new) road, I stopped at the dry terraced car park under the small fort at the other end, whe...

Spanish Blue ID please.

Sunday 9th April 2017, 25C high 2,000 ft + just north of MORELLA. I'm almost certain this is an Adonis Blue but it has a "extra" spot(see pics. below), prominent on it's right side but very faint on it's left side. There were 2 blues flying so they could be different butterflies :? One of ...

Re: SPAIN EARLY 2017.

Hi Essexbuzzard, thanks for your comments, sorry I confused you over the Spanish Festoon, what I meant was that it looked brand new, I actually saw my first SF on the 10th March, which was early for the northern Spain, sorry I confused you. I see you enjoyed yourself at Gibraltar :D , I must get dow...

Re: SPAIN EARLY 2017.

Thursday 30th March 2017, sunny 20c. A visit to the dry river bed next to the campsite in search of the Plain Tiger. I've only photographed one PT in the last 2/3 weeks, I've seen a few more but they have been on a mission. At first there wasn't anything flying just a couple of "Whites", b...
