Had my first Gatekeeper of the year this afternoon on Horsenden Hill, west London. Also 8 Marbled Whites (none seen here a week ago), 45+ Meadow Brown, 3 Speckled Wood, 4 Large + 6 Small Skippers, Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell, 4 Comma, Large+ 2 Small Whites. No sign of any Purple Hairstreaks yet.

On Friday 2 White-letter Hairstreaks on Horsenden Hill, west London + another 2 yesterday at Runnymede. Can I ask whereabouts at Runnymede you saw the WLH? Horsenden Hill, west London, 5th July. Few butterflies but 2 White Letter Hairstreaks. Also 4 Meadow Browns, 2 Small Skippers, Comma, Small White, many Narrow-bordered 5-spot Burnets, couple of Burnet Companions.

My first Holly Blue of the year today in a garden near Wandsworth Common, London. Also a Peacock.

Today at Ruislip Woods, Middx it was blustery with sunny spells which yielded 2 male Brimstones, 3 Commas + my first 2 Small Tortoiseshells for the year. Still haven't had a Peacock yet this spring.

Yesterday I had my first butterfly of the year- a Red Admiral in a garden close to Wandsworth Common station in London. Today another + a Comma near Canons Park tube in north London.
