French blues

Found these two small blues in early August on a flowery roadside verge near Corps, Isere, at an altitude of just over 1,000m. Short of alternatives, I'm thinking that they are both Idas, but their lack of silver spots has left me wondering. I'd be grateful for help on this.

Swiss Skippers

Small weakly-marked skippers seen at Arolla in the Valais, SW Switzerland, at the beginning of August 2017. They were in flowery, wooded riverside vegetation. Warren's skipper? I'd be glad of help on this.

Re: Spanish Pyrgus

Thank you, Roger and Guy. I'm grateful for your time and help on this. The largish number of pyrgus photos I brought back from our holiday is quickly being reduced to two piles, armoricanus and carthami. On the plus side, it's a good excuse for a repeat trip.

Spanish Pyrgus

I'd be grateful for ideas on this pyrgus seen at about 2200m in the Val d'Aran in early August. Thank you in advance.

Re: French Blues

Thank you, Roger. I had discounted Mountain Argus. In all the photos I'd seen, the unhw spots are not aligned in the way they are in my photo, the upper two always being at more of an angle from the central spot/line. I would also have expected it to look smaller than it does in relation to the blue...

French Blues

Could anybody help me identify this blue (with Chalkhill, Damon and Silver-studded) seen at Valberg (alt 1700m) in SE France at the end of July? The nearest I’ve got is Chapman’s, though the arrangement of unhw spots doesn’t look quite right for Chapman’s (or for anything else, as far as I can see.)

Re: French Skipper

Thank you both for your very detailed responses. Much appreciated, and I will try much harder next time to get underwing shots too.

French Skipper

Saw this skipper in late July half an hour north of Nice at an altitude of about 300m. I started with Oberthur's, but the wavy S makes me think it might be Cinquefoil, though the cell spot isn't particularly rectangular. Can anybody help?

Re: Mountain or Shepherd's?

Thank you both for your very thorough and detailed replies. In answer to your questions, these were all photographed at the Col in very roughly the same area. We walked a little further down - to around the Refuge - and saw Cynthia's there but no other fritillaries like those above. To be honest, th...

Mountain or Shepherd's?

Saw these fritillaries at the Col de La Cayolle (2350m) in the southern Alps at the end of July. Any help working out which is which- or if they are all the same - would be much appreciated. The first 2 are photos of the same butterfly. The next 2 are photos of another butterfly. And then 2 differen...
