Prague end of May

Dear all

I'm going to be in Prague for a few days towards the end of May. If anyone has anyone looked for butterflies there at this time. I'd love to hear from you.

Regards

Re: Another appeal for lesser purple emperor sites

Many thanks Chris. I'll get in touch if I am planning to be in the area. The urge to complete the emperor set is getting very strong. I think the fact that you can't guarantee photographs is part of their appeal.

Re: Another appeal for lesser purple emperor sites

Thanks for the replies. I'll make sure I stay not far from Lac de l'Escourou. Any 'back-up' sites welcome.

Re: Another appeal for lesser purple emperor sites

Thanks for the replies. I should have added that any site near the French Alps that I could drive to for the day or visit on my way/way back would be of interest.

Another appeal for lesser purple emperor sites

Dear all A couple of years ago I was appealing for lpe sites in the Loire. Unfortunately I only got very poor views. I'm still finalising my summer plans but another French trip is looking likely, in August. If it doesn't happen this year, it's likely to be the year after. In my last appeal a couple...

Re: lesser purple emperor in the Loire

Yes it does look like I'm likely to be between broods. If anyone has seen them in France around this date I'd be interested to know.

lesser purple emperor in the Loire

Hi all

Has anyone got any good sites for lesser purple emperor in the Loire? I will be there about the 10th August so I presume it'll be an okay time. Please feel free to PM if you don't feel it's suitable to share details on a public forum.

Regards

Re: July 2016

There have been a few sightings in Sussex. I'm planning to check a Suffolk site this weekend so I'm glad to see more evidence that they're coming out. The best lure to get them down is dog ***t. It does spoil the photo somewhat though.

Re: Skippers form Vanoise, French Alps

It does seem I've jumped to conclusions about two and three being the same individual because they were taken a few seconds apart. Here is another photo of the one showing its underside with a bit upperside.

Re: Skippers form Vanoise, French Alps

Thanks Roger. I tried, but completely failed, to get an underside shot of 1. It's definitely a different individual to the next two which are shots of the same individual.

There are still some fresh ones flying at Hutchinsons Bank, here is a picture taken on Wednesday by my friend Jenny.

Thanks. sadly I failed to find them at Devil's Dyke today, but I was not helped by the horribly strong wind.

Early flowering insect attracting garden plant

Hi all

I'm about the least 'green fingered' person going but I am trying to make back my garden more attractive to insects. Can anyone recommend a good, insect friendly, easily available, early flowering plant please?

Thanks

Re: seeing two-tailed Pasha

Thanks for the information. I think Lac de Saint-Cassien will have to go on the itinerary. Kev, I notice on an earlier thread that you also saw lesser purple emperor there. Would it be possible to have more details where? By pm if you feel it appropriate.

Re: seeing two-tailed Pasha

I've now decided to miss out Corsica: I think the crowds in August may derive me nuts so I'm going to do a May visit another year. I'd be very interest in good butterfly spots and places to base myself in southern France. Going slightly off topic I'd also be very interested in good spots in Switzerl...
