Re: ID for a very small delicate white please, plus confirma
Hi Chris, sorry for the late posting. The Glaucopsyche blue I also believe to be 'alexis' for the reason that 'melonops' has faint sub marginal markings on the underside of both wings which is absent in alexis. have a quick look at at these photos http://www.garyhulbert.co.uk/melanops.html The pictu...

Swiss Fritillary help please
Hi Forum, can someone please set me straight with the attached butterfly please. It was seen in Evolene at the end of June 2013. My first thoughts were Melitaea (Mellicta) aurelia but also wondered if it could be a well marked Melitaea diamina. Apologies for poor photo and only ups available. Opinio...

Pyrgus ID help please
Hi everyone, could some one please give me their opinion on the attached skipper. The location was in the Euseigne area in SW Switzerland in early July. My thoughts are that it is a Safflower skipper (Pyrgus carthami) because of the almost complete white sub marginal band on the unhw. Thanks for you...

Re: erebia pickle
Thanks Roger for your info which is very helpful. I must admit I only made Arolla on the penultimate day and even then only walked the area looking over Evolene (path to Lac Arbey). I'm hoping to return next year, all-be-it later than this, and hope to spend more time in this area....Thanks again fo...

Re: erebia pickle
Thanks Guy and Mike for your tasty photos. I did wonder about the orange showing through Guy and so you've put your mind at rest, thanks once more. Regarding other photos I've managed now to reduce the size of my .JPEG photos which because of their file format where already compressed. Should now be...

Brilliant Roger thank you
. Can 'triaria' have an orange post discal band on unhw or do you think this is the angle of the photo?

Hi everyone and best wishes to the forum community. Could someone please help with the ID of the attached butterfly which I admit has got me in a ‘bit of a pickle’. Another 'Taxon' question
Hi guys, spurred on by recent taxon discussions on previous postings (really interesting thanks guys) I though I would pose my own all be 'Simples' one. Confused by the synonyms for various species i.e Mellicta athalia (Tolman & Lewington) for Melitaea athalia - Heath Fritillary, my question is ...
