Butterflies of the Iberian Peninsula - Book
Hi Guys, just have to say that I've just purchased the 'Iberian' book by Paul Browning. Sent my order first class and it was returned first class all within 2 days and in perfect order. What fantastic service Paul and all this just after christmas! The book itself is clean and precise with some very...

Re: First half of April - Where to go ?
Hi Willem, if you consider Sylvie's suggestion of Cyprus you will then be looking at a possible 44 species for this period with the added weather benefits. Have a look at this site, Eddie John whos site this is, is very helpful also http://www.cyprusbutterflies.co.uk/

Re: New Field Guide Please
Thanks for your reply Guy and please keep up the excellent analysis. On the field guide issue I guess I'm just going to have to invest in an iphone but in the mean time back to defacing the field guide! ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

New Field Guide Please
Sorry if readers thought that the title was to introduce a new field guide, more over, its a request for one. Having been glued to the ID analysis on this forum it strikes me that the information volunteered is priceless and would be better served if captured in a field guide. I use Collins guide (T...

Re: Blue ID Help Please
Just read the ID comments from GP which has blown me away. I know I'm a new 'leper' but I can't believe this level of analysis and can only read in wonder, oh well perhaps in a few years time (a good few years I think at that!) ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

Re: Is there a correct lense?
Hi Roger, Thank you for your enthusiastic reply which gets straight to the point and is full of good advice. I have already started with a tripod which will take some getting used to in order that I do not miss too many shot opportunities. However the end results have been far better as you would ex...

Re: Is there a correct lense?
Thanks to Steve and AJ for your thoughts. Yes Steve my lense is a SIGMA but no its not an APO unfortunately. As I am very new to butterflies and their photography I'm going to get more experience before I possibly invest in another lense, I think. I am going to however, take Paul Wetton's advise and...

Re: Is there a correct lense?
Thanks Everyone, for your views and experiences. The converters issue I think is an interesting one but is not one that I would consider for my existing 70-300mm lense because of the loss in quality. The concensus of opinion seems to be around the 100mm focal length prime macro lense. I definitely n...

Re: Is there a correct lense?
Thanks Mike for your views. I admit I had not thought of a converter because of any possible degradation that may be introduced by more lenses, but I suppose you would get that anyway with a telephoto lense. Food for thought and may be a cheaper option as well, some great feedback, thanks Mike ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Is there a correct lense?
Hi Guys I am new to the butterflies and as you will see also new to photography. On a recent field trip in Cornwall I was advised that the lense I had was not the right one for the job. I have a 70-300 mm lense with a 1:2 macro which operates within 200-300mm area fitted to my Cannon DSLR. I was adv...
