Re: November 2020

After last nights frost, I certainly didn't expect to see this very photogenic male Wall Brown in the warm sunshine today. Not sure why or how he's emerged so late, given the recent spell of grim weather!

Re: October 2020

A very fresh female Red Admiral today, basking between the rain showers. I will be checking the nettles for her eggs soon, looking at her abdomen!

Re: Guidance about exercise during lockdown.

Your view is not in the minority, essexbuzzard, it was a long winter and now we have Covid-19 to further mess up our lives. I personally do not believe that travelling to see what brings us pleasure, should make us feel guilty. I actually do enjoy seeing the same species at the same sites each year,...

Re: millerd

You've an amazing local patch, Dave, nice to have in these very trying times. I am amazed at the amount of butterflies you've seen, and the great shots that you have managed, makes for very nice viewing :) especially those Holly Blues :D

You're lucky to have a Dingy Skipper site adjacent to your workplace, David, lets hope that this site will be spared from further development :)

Re: Maximus

Thanks chaps, much appreciated :D My first post for a long while and like most others we have been ‘confined to quarters’, apart from our daily walks and trips to the supermarket. We decided to take our daily exercise at Noar Hill on Monday, as it looked like our last chance before the weather chang...

Re: Maximus

Thanks, Wurzel and Dave :) I've had a very bad bout of the flu which has lasted for almost three weeks :( Can't have a flu jab as I get very bad reaction to it  Lovely sunny day and I found two Red Admirals bushwacking each other in our front garden. Managed to get a shot of one basking in an ...

Re: Maximus

A belated thanks, chaps :) This morning when my wife shouted up the stairs, “there’s a Red Admiral in the garden”, I was straight out of my sickbed and down the stairs like the proverbial rat up a drainpipe, grabbing a camera on the way out into the muddy quagmire that used to be our garden. Sure en...
