Some lovely butterfly shots in your recent posts, David. Great that you have included the stunning habitat shots, which show what a beautiful part of the UK you live in :)

Re: Maximus

She was (a stunner), Wurzel, six more to go, but I hope they hold-back a bit, given that we've got rain coming :) Cheers, David, didn't mean to understate her release, it was a joyous occasion :) I understand why it would be tricky for you to relocate here post-Brexit, and the winters can be...

Re: Maximus

Hi Wurzel, that OT female was a real beaut :) and I do understand why you skimmed past the QoS bit, i'd have done the same   Thanks, Goldie, and as you say, at least we've seen a QoS, in fact we see one or two a day, but they're not stopping at the moment  It was idyllic, David, per...

The first of our reared Swallowtails emerged this morning. A quick few photos, with a Cuckoo calling in the background, and she was away :)

Re: April 2021

Male Orange-tip seen today during a walk where the wind chill made the temperature a very cold two degrees. He was nectaring and flying feebly around before finally settling on this dead leaf.

Re: Pauline

Hi Pauline, I think that your second image appears sharper. I am sure that my images are of better quality when using the close-up lens with my lumix than they are without it. Not sure why but they just look better :) :?:

Re: Pauline

Hi Pauline, glad you survived the winter and the encounter with your wrought iron gates :) Regarding your birds/tadpoles, we have found dried up tadpoles on the edge of our pond in the past. I think that birds attracted to ponds, see the tadpoles, and out of curiosity fish them out but perhaps don't...
