Re: millerd

You did really well with the Emperors at Chiddingfold, Dave, considering that it was a bad year for them. Shame the really purple one was on a 'shish Kebab' someone had left behind :)

Thanks, Trevor, should have added this shot, looking back to where we parked our car, just below and to the left of the first pylon.

Re: Pauline

Morning, Pauline. Lovely shots in your PD recently, as always :) Lovely Brown Hairstreak, shame it wasn't from Noar though! The Silver-spotted Skipper female is a beaut and lots of great early stages, plenty there for all tastes. The management at Noar Hill has always seemed a bit iffy to me, they s...

Re: Butterflies of Var, Southern France

It's great that you finally found your Gavarnie Blue, Roger, having missed it on your previous visits. We took our photos of this butterfly on 14-07-18, probably at the same spot as you and Medard did. I remember that path around the lake with it's big drops to one side, not good for anyone sufferin...

Re: Wurzel

Nice stuff as always, Wurzel :) It's not good to read about the sad decline of Pearl and particularly Small Pearls at Bentley Wood :x We had some lovely trips there and were always lucky to find plenty of each :)

Another thumbs up from me, Dave, to your Marbled White egg laying shot :) plus the great SW Frit and White Admiral shots :) Hopefully they went some way to making up for the lack of HIM at Chiddingfold

Cheers, Trevor, France is full of surprises :D During the last week, six of the second brood Swallowtails that we have been 'looking after', emerged after a short pupal stage. Re: Trevor

Great shots of the female and male SW Frits at Chiddingfold, Trevor :) Reading between the lines it didn't seem to be the best year for PE's in Surrey.

I hope that things are better in 2022 :P

Re: Maximus

Thanks, Pauline, yes I know folks travel at least to Portland to see LT. Thanks, Wurzel, for your comments regarding ' common or garden' butterflies, LT in particular :) This Large Tortoiseshell was so meaningful to us that she deserves to float to the top :) P1380406Resize.JPG There's more reports ...
