Re: April 2019

Grizzled Skipper today at Ubley Warren in Somerset, thought it might be the first for the county, but see that the first was logged over a week ago! Also a couple of redstarts there today, which are always very nice to see.

Re: July 2015

3 or 4 purple emperors about at Fermyn woods this weekend, along with purple hairstreaks, white admirals and silver-washed fritillaries. Also at Monk's wood in Cambs, black hairstreak still showing and plenty of silver-washed fritillary again too.

Cheers, Alex

Took a pic of this little chap too (skipper sp.) and got my suspicions that it's an Essex skipper, though never seen one before - can someone ...

Re: June 2013

a short (20 mins) walk along the lower S - facing slope of Fontmell Down yesterday produced a few adonis blues with common blue and brown argus, as well as many dark green fritillarys and small heaths. This was a casual watch without counting numbers or looking too hard for species, but there were v...

A few Dukes were showing at Buckland Wood this weekend during a nice (and rare) break in the weather.
