Minsmere RSPB - Suffolk. Silver Studded Blue?
Wonder if anyone can shed any light on this?... Went to Minsmere on Friday, knowing from the RSPB literature they use to advertise the reserve that they tell you to look out for Silver Studded Blue and having seen, on some forum or BC website, the previous week a group had been there looking for SSB...

Re: June Butterflies 9th >>> onwards
Thanks Rosie - too kind! (The intervening leaf was annoying....but can't nail the blighters down where you want them, can you?) I agree with you - Purple Hairstreaks are difficult and un-cooperative, so getting those shots is an achievement indeed! I've been to Fermyn (and Brampton) and other woods ...

Re: June Butterflies 9th >>> onwards
I am hoping to get to Foxley wood in Norfolk to spot a White Admiral but work keeps getting in the way!! Angie I read somewhere there is a tree-top walk (at the Holkham estate, possibly) in Norfolk where it is possible to see Purple Hairstreak on their level. Holkham Woods between the bay and Wells...

Re: Silver Studded Blue - Suffolk
Hi Steve Martlesham Heath - I was in the vicinity on Friday and didn't see a thing in 4 hours of walking and driving around the area. Obviously quite localised? All I found was Martlesham Heath Industrial Estate, Martlesham Heath Residential Area, pieces of woodlands, interspersed with arable and la...

Re: South Yorkshire sites.
Hi I'm sure you probably have - but can I be so bold as to suggest you look on Butterfly Conservation's Yorkshire website for some sites and have a word with the S Yorks Recorder for some info? The Butterflies of Yorkshire Published 2005 Edited by Howard M Frost. The above book (costs £20 - but with...

Finally a 3D pic with a sort of smile. That's it. I'm depressed now. Guy PS - At first I put Buffy there to focus the camera on while I set it up, but then I just thought she looked good. Pity about the reflection. When I try to get the 3D I get a really spooky combination of Guy AND Buffy all in o...

Re: Tips on what camera to get
Like you - it was a shock going to DSLR - for all those reasons! Film to digital bridge was a revelation; bridge to DSLR is much harder and makes you work! But I think I am now starting to get going - all my shots in the Comps this year are from my Nikon D300 and Tamron 90mm macro; last years' are f...

Re: Tips on what camera to get
I agree with Patrick - THE point about Bridge cameras is that you have everything (if you include the the add-on macro lens) from telephoto to close-up in one package for less than the cost of Gruditch's lens! And I'm sure that many of these users produce images as good as many DSLR owners - just lo...

Quite close on both counts Neil, But I would obviously have to shoot you if I told you exactly what river it was  Trev Speaking as a local....I would bet it is in a quiet lode somewhere in the area of the Cam/Ouse confluence..... Since that's quite a lot of water I reckon it's safe, Trev! BTW...
