Re: Wood White - Favourite Photo 2014

Hi Chris and David,

Thanks for the comments. Appreciated as always. :D

When you take about 4,000 photos of the 2nd brood Wood Whites alone, you have to get a couple of good ones.

All the best, Nick.

Hi Buggy,

you are obviously using flash in these photos, and i must say, to great affect. Especially the Large Skipper. Nice to see something different.

All the best, Nick.

Re: Favorite Photo of 2014

It has to be this photo of mating Orange-tips, because it was the first time i had realised that this species sometimes mated overnight. They were joined for at least fourteen hours, Which must be a world record for this species.

Re: Wood White - Favourite Photo 2014

These two are mine. For the simple reason, on how difficult they where to obtain, the time and energy put into getting such photos was enormous. So made the results even more pleasing.

An insight into the life of Chiddingfold Wood's Wood White.. Final part... The female rejection signal The female Wood White is noted for not having a reject signal to ward off any advances from amorous males, hence all the failed courtships but, this is not always the case. Because if you keep look...

Re: White Admiral larvae

Hi Tony, Guy is obviously right about the White Admiral still being in hibernation, whether its in Switzerland or England. And when the larva do make an appearance as a 2nd instar larva, it will depend on the amount of light/sunshine that gets through the canopy, simply for the warmth. So the darker...

Re: Nick Broomer

Hi David, Thank you very much, for your sincere and generous comments on my observations on the Wood White. Its taken me five years so far [in both poor and good weather] and, i'm sure there is a lot more to be learnt about the Wood White. In my opinion, there needs to be a lot more research done in...

I don't often find myself photographing Small Whites but, this female makes a lovely exception. This one was taken in Turkey, early June 2014.

Hi David, Mike and Wurzel, thank you again, for your kind comments. Appreciated as always. Wurzel, to answer your question.
